Monetary Authority

The Monetary Authority warns consumers to beware of emails purporting to be sent from the Shanghai Commercial Bank, asking customers to use an embedded hyperlink to access fraudulent website http://59.252.20.1/sh/onl/ to verify their account information by entering user names and passwords.

The bogus website looks similar to the bank's Internet banking logon webpage. The bank has clarified it has not sent these emails and has no connection with the fraudulent website. The bank does not ask customers to provide passwords or verify their account information online. The case has been reported to Police.

Anyone who has provided personal information to the website or conducted financial transactions through it should contact the bank on 2526 8070 and Police on 2860 5012.
