471 penalty tickets issued in Police blitz

A total of 471 fixed penalty tickets and 40 summonses were  issued to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day Police crackdown on Hong Kong Island that ended today.

 

A total of 295 fixed-penalty tickets were issued for illegal parking and 176 for other traffic offences. Twenty-five pedestrians and 238 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.

 

There were 965 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island from January to April this year - and 51.1% of these were caused by pedestrian negligence.
