Red travel alert on Bangkok still in force

*

The Government said the red outbound travel alert for Bangkok and surrounding areas is still in force. The Immigration Department has received 192 enquiries but no requests for assistance so far.

As large gatherings of people are taking place in Bangkok, residents who had planned to go there should adjust their travel plans. Those who are there should attend to their personal safety and avoid places of demonstration or gatherings of large numbers of people.

The Security Bureau and other relevant Government bureaux and departments are monitoring the situation. They have been in liaison with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong, and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

Any update will be issued through the media and the outbound travel alert website. Residents outside Hong Kong who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline, (852) 1868.
