A man was handed a suspended jail term with a fine at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today for assaulting a Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officer.

The court heard he had attacked the officer when he was being prosecuted for throwing a cigarette butt on the pavement of Shing Fong Street on Kwai Chung on October 7.

He was sentenced to a month in jail, suspended for a year, and a fine of $3,500 for the assault, plus another fine of $1,500 for littering.
