Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

A man has been fined $8,000 by Kowloon City Magistracy for running an unlicensed rooftop barbecue site in Mongkok.

The site at 697 Shanghai Street was raided by the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department September 19, and officers seized bags of charcoal, barbecue stoves and eating utensils. The court ordered him to forfeit the items.

Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed restaurant is six months' jail and a $50,000 fine.
