Illegal worker jailed
*
Immigration Department

Sha Tin Magistracy jailed an illegal worker holding an immigration recognisance form for 15 months today.

The 28-year-old man was found setting up a market stall on Tung Choi Street November 18. He sneaked into Hong Kong from the Mainland in 2007 and was hired to work odd jobs at the stall for $200 a day. He pleaded guilty to taking employment while being subject to a removal order.

Holders of immigration recognisance forms are not allowed to take up employment. Offenders face three years' jail and a $50,000 fine.
