Cyclist dies in Sau Mau Ping accident

A 66-year-old cyclist was killed in a traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping this morning.

 

At about 7:15am, a 37-year-old man was driving a light goods vehicle along Sau Mau Ping Road towards Po Tat Estate when he reportedly struck the man's bicycle near Hiu Kwong Street.

 

The cyclist was sent to United Christian Hospital where he was certified dead at 7.39am.

 

Police arrested the van driver for drink driving and dangerous driving causing death. He was released on bail.

 

Kowloon East's special traffic investigation team is following up. Anyone who saw the accident is urged to contact them on 2305 7500.
