A design competition has been launched to give youths an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity on the Internet by designing their dream anti-drug heroes.

The yearlong competition comprises the school and open categories.

Its design themes are:

* anti-drug heroes;

* their apparel; and,

* their weapons against drugs.

Besides submitting the artwork, participants must also explain the ideas behind their designs. They can upload their design onto the competition website or use the art tools on the website to design their work.

Submitted works will be assessed by a judging panel. Net surfers can also vote for their favourite design.

Participants can choose to take part in any phase of the competition. Participants getting the top vote of each phase will win a laptop computer, and coupons for art tools and sports equipment.

A designer will incorporate designs with the top votes into a mural containing anti-drug messages. About 120 youngsters will paint the mural, which is scheduled to be completed in April next year. The mural will be displayed in a public place.
