Subcontractor jailed for bribing Police officers
*
ICAC

Tsuen Wan Magistracy has jailed a construction subcontractor for two months for bribing Police officers with 15 boxes of mooncakes.

Chin Tat-yung, 37, a director of Brilliant Ray Limited, pleaded guilty to one count of offering an advantage to prescribed officers.

Brilliant Ray was appointed as the construction subcontractor responsible for certain roadworks on Lantau Island. Before carrying out a project, the company had to submit a roadwork advice to the Lantua District Police traffic team for comments and approval.

Between January and September 2007, the traffic team approved 54 roadwork projects the company carried out.

On September 14, 2007, the defendant gave 15 boxes of mooncakes to a police constable on the team in the Lantau Police Station carpark. A senior inspector later returned the mooncakes to the defendant.
