Macau approached over entry refusals
*

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says the Government will contact Macau authorities after two Hong Kong residents were recently refused entry to the enclave.

Mr Lee said today the Macau government does not normally report such cases to Hong Kong.

"In the past year or so we have only less than 10 cases of people being refused entry into Macau seeking help from the Hong Kong Government," he said, pledging the cases will be investigated.

Meanwhile, the Government is also contacting Japanese authorities after two Hong Kong singers were reportedly arrested in the country for drug possession.

When asked whether the relaxation of the Individual Visit Scheme will worsen Hong Kong's security, he said it will have a positive impact on the city's tourism.

"We welcome the relaxation of the scheme and I can assure the Hong Kong public we have sufficient capacity to cater for the increase in the number of visitors. We are not too worried about the law and order situation," he said.
