15 injured in 13-vehicle pile-up

Police are investigating a 13-vehicle pile-up in which 15 people were injured in Kowloon City this evening.  

About 6.30pm, a 45-year-old man driving a coach along Waterloo Road towards Kowloon Tong. Near Cornwall Street, he apparently lost control and rammed into a taxi in front, then into a private car at Junction Road, resulting in a chain collision. 

In all, 13 vehicles were involved in the accident, including the coach, two taxis, nine private cars and a bus.

Nine men and six women, aged 16 to 73, were injured. They were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment.

The coach driver was arrested for dangerous driving.

Kowloon West's accident investigation team is following up. Anyone who saw the accident is urged to contact the team on 2773 5200.
