Matrimonial rules to be revised
*

The Matrimonial Causes (Fees) (Amendment) Rules 2009 will be revised as part of the civil justice reform to be implemented from April 2.

The High Court Chief Judge proposed them February 24. Legislative Council approval will be sought March 18, and subject to the endorsement, the rules will take effect April 2.

The Judiciary said today the revisions are technical in nature, seeking to follow certain features on taxation under the new Rules of High Court and the Rules of District Court. These rules were accepted and enacted by LegCo under the reform last year.

The reform will improve rules and streamline procedures in civil proceedings, encourage and facilitate settlement, and enable judicial resources to be better distributed and utilised.
