Police are appealing for information on two bomb hoax cases in Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok yesterday.

A mobile phone with a charger surrounded by electrical wires was found in a flower bed outside a hotel at 64 Mody Road and a suspicious paper bag was found outside 678 Nathan Road.

Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau officers conducted controlled disruption at the scene and confirmed they were hoax bombs. Neither explosives nor harmful substances were found. Inside the bag was a threatening note and some powder.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Suen Kwai-leung said it is believed both cases were mischief, adding Police will make an all-out effort to track down the suspects.  

Making a bomb hoax is a serious crime and offenders upon conviction will be liable to a fine of $150,000 and five years' imprisonment on indictment.
