Top judge, magistrate named
*
The Judiciary has announced the appointment of Judge Li Hon-leung as Chief District Judge and Tong Man as Chief Magistrate from July 2.

 

The Chief Executive made their appointments on the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission's recommendation.

 

Judge Li Hon-leung was called to the Bar in Hong Kong and joined the Legal Department as Assistant Crown Counsel in 1987. He was promoted to Crown Counsel in 1988 and Senior Crown Counsel in 1991. He was appointed as Magistrate in 1993, Principal Magistrate in 1999, Chief Magistrate in 2000 and District Judge in 2007. 

 

Tong Man was called to the Bar in Hong Kong and joined the Legal Department as Assistant Crown Counsel in 1987. He was promoted to Crown Counsel in 1988 and Senior Crown Counsel in 1991. He was appointed as Magistrate in 1993 and Principal Magistrate in 2001.
