2 charged in ATM card fraud

*
Hong Kong Police

Police have charged two men aged 25 and 41 jointly with one count of possession of false instruments in connection with an automatic teller machine card fraud. They will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow.

Police have arrested the men and seized 48 suspected counterfeit ATM cards encoded with overseas bank accounts and $215,300 in cash from a Wan Chai hotel on April 6.

Police believe they have now neutralised an ATM card fraud syndicate. Local banks last month reported that some telephone cards had been left inside ATMs and they detected suspicious cash withdrawal transactions.
