Customs officers have arrested a 51-year-old driver for smuggling more than $1.1 million worth of unmanifested goods including American ginseng and canned fruit cocktail.

At about 12.30pm yesterday, Customs officers at Sha Tau Kok checkpoint stopped a departing container truck declared to be carrying canned ketchup.

They examined the container and found 3,145kg of American ginseng and 10,800 cans of fruit cocktail.

The arrested man has been released on bail pending investigations.
