Man fined for election expense fraud
*
ICAC

Kwun Tong Magistracy has fined a defeated 2003 Kwun Tong District Council Election candidate $15,000 for using false election expenses receipts.

Chan Wai-tat, 27, was defeated in the election on November 23, 2003, and submitted an election return to the Registration & Electoral Office the following month.

In the return he used three receipts for a total of $10,475 purportedly issued by a printing company. Independent Commission Against Corruption officers later found the receipts were false.
