Employers fined for wage offences

Three employers have been fined up to $25,000 for wage offences.

 

Peter Kam trading as R&D Delicacy Consultant Co. was fined $25,000 at Kwun Tong Magistracy today. He failed to pay wages to two employees within seven days of the expiry of the wage period. He also failed to grant two statutory holidays or pay the holiday pay in respect of the Ching Ming Festival and Labour Day, to the employees.

 

Lead Harvest International (HK), a trading company, was fined $22,000 by Kwun Tong Magistracy. It failed to pay wages to an employee within seven days of the expiry of the wage period and the termination of employment. In addition to paying the fine, it was ordered to clear the outstanding wages through the court.

 

Kwai Chuen Container Service Company Director Ng Chun-wai was fined $15,000 at Tsuen Wan Magistracy. Ng failed to pay wages to an employee within seven days of the expiry of the wage period and the termination of employment. The amount of wages involved was about $11,000. Ng was also ordered to clear the outstanding wages through the court.
