8 arrested for e-auction fraud
*
Hong Kong Police

Police have shut down an e-auction fraud syndicate, arresting five men and three women aged 18 to 47.

The culprits offered to sell electronic products on an e-auction platform. After the victims paid, the culprits did not ship the goods, earning $5 million in proceeds.

The culprits also sold their bank accounts to the syndicate for money laundering.

Police remind people to check the reputation of the e-auction site and the identity of the buyers and sellers. If possible, deal with buyers and sellers in person.
