Officer accidentally shoots colleague
*
Hong Kong Police

A Police officer accidentally shot his colleague when the two tried to subdue a drunk man at a housing estate in Aberdeen last night. The woman Police sergeant is recovering from the wound to her left calf, and the drunk was arrested.

Just before 10pm last night, Police were called to a unit in Wah Lok House in Wah Fu Estate after receiving a report that the drunk man was hurting himself.

The officers found the 45-year-old man inside with his 77-year-old mother who left the flat. The man became emotional during questioning. When the officers left to let him calm down, he rushed out after them brandishing a chopper, a dagger and a baton.

When he attacked the male officer with the chopper, the officer gave three verbal warnings before firing three shots to subdue the man - one of which injured his 36-year-old partner.

The drunk man was arrested for assaulting a Police officer.

Both he and the woman officer were sent to Queen Mary Hospital where they are in stable condition.

The Western District crime squad is investigating.
