2 arrested for importing illicit meat

Customs officers have arrested two women for bringing meat into Hong Kong without an official certificate.

 

About 11.30am today officers seized 22.1kg of fresh meat, worth $442 from an arriving Mainland woman at Man Kam To checkpoint. The meat comprised 6.4kg of mutton, 10.7kg of chicken and 5kg of pork.

 

About 2.30pm yesterday, officers at the same checkpoint seized 1.3kg of fresh pork and 700 grams of fresh chicken, worth about $70, from an arriving Hong Kong woman.

 

The two cases have been transferred to the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department.
