Customs have shut down a cigarette smuggling syndicate in Sha Tin, arresting five men and seizing 2.6 million cigarettes.
The cigarettes, worth $3.6 million, and with a duty potential of $2.1 million, were seized from two lorries. The arrested men were aged 35 to 44.
It is believed the cigarettes were intended for sale in Kowloon and the New Territories.
