Customs conducts trade description checks
*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs officers have inspected two shops in Hung Hom and To Kwa Wan to check if they have violated the Trade Descriptions Ordinance.

They went to a Hung Hom jewellery shop yesterday to investigate whether there were activities infringing the ordinance. They took samples of necklaces with pendants to test their gold and gem content.

Officers also inspected a To Kwa Wan shop to investigate an accusation involving illegal use of a watch's trade mark. They took away documents and will approach the trade mark owner in Switzerland to ascertain whether criminal activities are involved.

The department said it attaches great importance to the protection of consumer interests and will continue stringent enforcement action.
