A 30-year-old truck driver and his 27-year-old male passenger were killed when the driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and rammed into an iron railing in Tsing Yi early this morning.

At about 2.30 am, the truck was travelling towards Tsuen Wan on Tsing Tsuen Road. The accident occurred outside Maritime Square. After ramming the railing, the vehicle crashed into a sign gantry at the central divider near Riviera Garden.

The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and ambulance crew later certified him dead at the scene. The driver was trapped inside the compartment. Firefighters rescued him and sent him to Yan Chai Hospital. He was certified dead at 3.20am.

The New Territories South special traffic investigation team is following up. They ask anyone who saw the accident to call 3661 1300.
