*
Hong Kong Police

Director of Environmental Protection Anissa Wong has expressed her sadness at the death of a site supervisor who was knocked down by a yard tractor in Sha Tin Refuse Transfer Station.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, Ms Wong sent her deepest condolences to the deceased's family.

The 50-year-old man was employed by the contractor to oversee the facility. About 10.20am, the tractor reportedly hit him while reversing inside the station's open area. He was trapped beneath the vehicle and certified dead at the scene.

The Environmental Protection Department is concerned about the accident and Police are investigating. Witnesses should call investigators on 3661 1344.
