*
Hong Kong Police

A man has been killed and 12 people injured after a double-decker bus mounted a footpath in Mong Kok today.

About 4.30pm the bus reportedly lost control outside 45-57 Waterloo Road knocking down four pedestrians and ramming a traffic light, railings and a building awning.

The 31-year-old victim was trapped beneath the bus and had to be freed by firemen. He died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital at 5.30pm. The 46-year-old bus driver was also sent to the hospital, while three pedestrians and eight bus passengers - five men and six women aged 23 to 72 - were sent to Kwong Wah Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident and urge witnesses to call them on 2773 5200 or 2773 5220.
