Police are investigating a traffic accident in Western District in which an elderly woman was killed and three others injured.

About 9.30am a van was being loaded on Third Street near Eastern Street. However, it reportedly rolled back onto the footpath, knocking down the four pedestrians. Three, aged 72 to 90, were taken to Queen Mary Hospital. One of them, 74, was certified dead at 10.09am. Another 74-year-old woman sought treatment at the same hospital later.
