Government counsels Cheang Kei-hong and Gary Lam will serve as permanent magistrates from September 1, the Judiciary says.
Born in Macau in 1967, Mr Cheang was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1994 and in England & Wales in 1997. He was in private practice from 1994 to1997 before joining the Department of Justice as Government Counsel in 1997. He was promoted to Senior Government Counsel in 2001.
Born in Hong Kong in 1969, Mr Lam was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and in England & Wales in 1997. He was appointed Government Counsel from 1997, and was promoted to Senior Government Counsel in 2002.
