*
ICAC

Six asphalt company staff have been charged for defrauding the Highways Department.

Wui Yip Asphalt manager Cheng Chi-fai, 53, foremen Tsui Yau-chuen, 53, and Wong Kwong-sing, 42, site agents Chow Heung-fai, 34, and Leung Shing-cho, 43, and worker Cheng Ka-man, 33, will appear in Sha Tin Magistracy on August 10.

Wu Yip was a subcontractor of the department conducting road resurfacing at various sites.

The defendants allegedly falsely represented that the core samples submitted for testing were actual core samples obtained from the department's sites at which bituminous road resurfacing works were conducted by Wui Yip.

As a result, the department accepted the submitted samples and the test results as genuine.
