Chan Yuk-fan, Reuden Lai, Clement Lee, Simon Lo, Mak Kwok-cheung, George Own, Joseph To and Wong Wai-kuen have been appointed Permanent Magistrates, effective August 1.
Chan Yuk-fan was born in Hong Kong in 1966. She was admitted as a Solicitor in Hong Kong in 1997 and has been in private practice since then.
Reuden Lai was born in Hong Kong in 1958. He was admitted as Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore in 1994 and Legal Practitioner in New South Wales, Australia, in 1996. He has been in private practice since 1988.
Born in 1969, Clement Lee was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1993 and has been in private practice since 1994.
Simon Lo was born in Hong Kong in 1967. He was admitted as Solicitor in Hong Kong in 1993 and in England and Wales in 1996. He has been in private practice since 1993.
Mak Kwok-cheung was born in Hong Kong in 1960. He was admitted as Solicitor in Hong Kong in 1996 and in England and Wales in 1997. He became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2000. He has been in private practice since 1996.
George Own was born in Hong Kong in 1960. He was admitted as Barrister-at-law and Solicitor in England and Wales in 1990 and 1992, and Solicitor in Hong Kong in 1993. He has been in private practice since 1992.
Joseph To was born in Hong Kong in 1962. He was appointed Crown Counsel and Senior Crown Counsel in the then Legal Department from 1994 to 1997, and has been Senior Government Counsel of the Department of Justice since 1997.
Wong Wai-kuen was born in China in 1957. He was admitted as Solicitor in England and Wales in 1995, and in Hong Kong in 1996. He was in private practice from 1996 to 2001 and was appointed Special Magistrate 2001.
