Two people have been charged for bribery over food supplies to a supermarket chain. They pleaded not guilty at Eastern Magistracy today and were granted bail.
In the first case, Tai Sze Toi Trading Company proprietor Yau Kin-yi, 44, denied two counts of offering an advantage to an agent and was granted $10,000 bail. Magistrate Allan Wyeth adjourned the trial to September 25.
Yau is alleged to have offered an advantage, in the form of a contract or a favour consisting of a joint-venture agreement on the supply of onion to Nguyen Van-to, an employee of Dairy Farm and a regional manager of Wellcome Supermarkets. In return, Nguyen allegedly showed business favour to Yau.
In the second case, businessman Chow Kam-yuen, 55, denied one count of aiding and abetting a person to offer an advantage to an agent and was granted $5,000 bail. Magistrate Wyeth adjourned trial to September 22.
Chow allegedly aided and abetted a trading company director to offer a commission to Nguyen as reward for showing favour to the trading company over its supply of Chinese sausage to Wellcome.
