Four netted smuggling car parts

Mainland cargo vessel
Fight crime: Customs stopped this Mainland cargo vessel suspected of engaging in smuggling activities off West Lamma Channel yesterday.
*

Customs officers have arrested four Mainlanders and seized 50 dismantled private cars and spare parts, worth a total of about $1 million from a departing Mainland cargo vessel off West Lamma Channel.

About 9pm yesterday, Customs officers stopped a vessel off West Lamma Channel and made the seizure after a chase. Since the goods were not covered by an export manifest, four crew members were arrested.

The men, aged 27 to 35, are being detained at Customs Marine Base and will be charged with smuggling offences.

Customs' vigorous enforcement against cross-boundary smuggling activities will continue.
