*
Hong Kong Police

Four men, aged 32 to 43, have been jailed by the District Court for up to four years for bookmaking and money laundering.

The defendants were arrested during a Police operation in Shui Tau Tsuen, Pat Heung, on May 11, 2003. Some horse-racing and soccer betting slips with a face value of about $5.5 million and $140,000 cash was seized.

They were convicted at the District Court on February 25 and sentenced today.

Police also applied to the court to confiscate the proceeds of the 40-year-old.
