*
Hong Kong Police

A total of 460 fixed-penalty tickets and 35 summonses were issued to road users violating traffic regulations during a two-day traffic blitz on Hong Kong Island.

The operation, known as Regional Traffic Day, finished at 7pm tonight. Among the 460 fixed-penalty tickets, 295 were for illegal parking and 165 for other traffic offences.

Police officers also gave verbal warnings to 52 pedestrians and 364 drivers for minor traffic offences.

There were 249 traffic accidents on Hong Kong Island in January and 44.7% were attributed to pedestrians' negligence.
