The Correctional Services Department has defended the use of body searches saying it is the most effective means for hindering drug trafficking into jails.
The department made the statement after a woman was apprehended in Tai Lam Centre for Women when she was found with six small bags of drugs in her body last night. The case was reported to Police.
There were 14 cases of drug smuggling in the body, property and clothing during admission searches last year.
