Customs seize $1.2m in illicit cigarettes

Customs officers have shut down an illicit cigarette storage centre in Tuen Mun, arresting two men and seizing 800,000 cigarettes worth $1.2 million and with a duty potential of $640,000.

 

At 10am today, officers stopped the duo, aged 24 and 42, who were moving the cigarettes into a flat in a factory building. 

 

The 42-year-old has overstayed in Hong Kong since January last year.
