41 inmates complete education scheme
*

Forty-one prisoners have received certificates at Tung Tau Correctional Institution after completing a series of lectures under the education scheme A Taste of University.

The scheme is co-organised by the Correctional Services Department and City University. It is one of the three programmes designed for the Continuing Education for Offenders Project. Launched at the institution in September, the scheme boosts participants' interest in pursuing further studies.

Under the programme, 10 two-hour lectures on a variety of subjects, covering sociology, psychology, business, environmental protection, computer and social skills, were given by university lecturers.

Another two items under the project, comprising a reading programme and a mentor scheme providing learning support to offenders, will be launched soon.
