Two people have been charged for perverting the course of justice in relation to investigations over the suspected theft of shares.
Securities broker Ng Ting-shag, 56, and solicitor Emily Ha, 40, will appear in Eastern Magistracy on October 21 on one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Ng further faces 15 counts of fraud, one of forgery, one of using false instruments, and another of perverting the course of justice.
The duo allegedly induced a complainant to withdraw complaints made to the Securities & Futures Commission and Police against Ng for suspected theft of shares. The charge also alleges Ng made a false statement to the commission, and that Ng and Ha induced a woman and her relative to make false statements.
Ng also faces 15 counts of stealing a substantial quantity of shares of 12 listed companies belonging to nine people. The forgery charge alleges Ng forged three share certificates in relation to two listed companies. He is also charged with one count of using those false share certificates.
Ng further faces one count of doing an act intended to pervert the course of justice by inducing people to make a false statement to the Independent Commission Against Corruption in relation to an investigation against Ng over alleged theft of shares.
The alleged offences occurred between June 2002 and September last year.
