28 arrested for maritime document forgery
*
Hong Kong Police

Twenty-eight people aged 26 to 50 have been arrested in a joint operation against Mainland trade vessels using forged documents.

Police, Marine and Immigration officers intercepted 13 vessels inside Chai Wan Public Cargo Working Area. The 13 masters and 13 launch mechanic officers were arrested, all Mainlanders, for using false instruments. Thirteen shipping nationality certificates, 13 vessel examination certificates and 26 competency certificates were seized.

Officers then raided two shipping companies on Lei Yue Mun Road in Kwun Tong and arrested a 47-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both Hong Kong people, for possessing equipment for making false instruments. Computers, company chops and suspected forged competency certificates were also seized.
