Woman jailed for using fake degrees
*
Hong Kong Police

A 41-year-old woman has been sentenced to 12 months' jail at the District Court for using false degree certificates to get employment.

The court heard the woman was employed as the personal assistant to a company chairman in November 1996 by falsely presenting degree certificates from two universities in Singapore and the United States in October 1996.

The Police Commercial Crime Bureau took up the investigation in November last year. The woman was later charged with using a false instrument and obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception.

Her District Court trial was heard between September 12 and 16, and the sentence was meted out today.
