The District Court has jailed a man and a woman for three years, and another man for 27-and-a-half months, in two counterfeit banknote cases.
The woman, 24, used a fake $500 note in a Yau Ma Tei shop on April 2. Police found another 100 fake $500-notes at the Kowloon City guesthouse where she was staying. A 20-year-old man at the scene was also arrested.
She was charged with one count of passing counterfeit notes, and jointly charged with the man on one count of custody of counterfeit notes. Both pleaded guilty.
Meanwhile, another man, 27, was identified by Police to be a distributor of counterfeit $100 notes. He was responsible for passing fakes on six occasions between December 13, 2003 and May 14 last year. He was arrested in Shenzhen for possession of 147 fake notes on June 27 last year.
After serving a sentence on the Mainland, he was handed over to Hong Kong and charged. He admitted to six counts of passing counterfeit banknotes.
