ICAC chief visits Beijing, Henan
*
ICAC

Independent Commission Against Corruption Commissioner Raymond Wong will lead a delegation to Beijing and Henan September 4 to 10 to foster anti-graft ties.

Mr Wong said: "The ICAC has maintained close liaison with Mainland procuratorates on both operational and educational fronts. During the visit, we will exchange experiences with the Mainland authorities on the latest development of anti-corruption work. Apart from procuratorates and other authorities in Beijing, we will also pay visits to procuratorates in Henan."

The delegation starts their visit in Beijing today, where it will meet officials from the Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Office, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, as well as the Ministries of Supervision and Public Security.

Other agenda items

Mr Wong will also attend the 22nd Congress on the Law of the World, while in Henan the delegation will meet anti-corruption authorities to exchange experiences.

Since 1988, a Mutual Case Assistance Scheme has been in place between the ICAC and the Guangdong Provincial People's Procuratorate to enable mutual assistance in interviewing witnesses. The scheme has proved effective in tackling cross-boundary corruption.

On the education front, the ICAC last year arranged 200 talks on Hong Kong's anti-corruption work for over 7,000 Mainland officials visiting Hong Kong.
