Disney reminded of legal obligation

*

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has contacted Hong Kong Disneyland to remind them of the statutory role of law enforcement officers. The move came after the theme park's management told two health inspectors to remove parts of their uniform while they checked a food poisoning report. The department rejected the move as "unacceptable".

It reiterated that department officers are empowered under the Public Health & Municipal Services Ordinance to inspect food premises and take enforcement action.

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee said all disciplinary forces officers must wear full uniform when enforcing the law in the theme park. He said laws apply across Hong Kong, including Hong Kong Disneyland.
