Smuggled goods seized in marine chase
*
Hong Kong Police

Marine Police have seized $820,000 worth of smuggled vehicle parts, computer hard disks and used mobile phones off Ap Chau in the New Territories.

At about 2am yesterday, two unlit speedboats were travelling at high speed near Ap Chau towards the Mainland. One collided with a Police vessel north of Chek Kok Tau. However, the coxswain was picked up by another unlit speedboat and fled towards the Mainland sea boundary.

Five boxes of vehicle parts, 16 boxes of desktop computer hard disks, two boxes of notebook computer hard disks and four boxes of used mobile phones were found aboard the abandoned boat.

The case has been handed to the Customs & Excise Department for follow-up action.
