Police will launch a three-week city-wide campaign tomorrow to promote school transport safety as the new school year approaches.
Police Road Safety Teams will organise talks and publicity events to remind school-bus and nanny-van drivers, as well as teachers and parents, to pay special attention to the road safety of school children. They will also give briefings to students on the safety of travelling on school buses.
According to the School Transport Safety Rules, school-bus or nanny-van drivers should take necessary precautions to ensure passenger safety.
There were 27 traffic accidents involving school buses with 92 passengers injured in the first half of this year, both recorded a 54% decrease compared with the same period last year.
