The Security Bureau has refuted rumours amnesty will be granted to right of abode claimants on July 1.

It reiterated today the Government will not grant any amnesty and urged claimants not to be misled. Mainland residents who are not eligible for right of abode will be repatriated if they have entered illegally or overstayed.

The Court of Final Appeal handed down a clear judgment on right of abode cases in January 2002, and the Government will continue to deal with cases in accordance with the law.
