100 illicit TV decoders seized
*
Office of the Telecommunications Authority

Police are questioning eight people after seizing over 100 unauthorised pay TV decoders, smart cards and smart card programmers.

The Office of the Telecommunications Authority and Police have mounted three operations in Sham Shui Po against the sale of unauthorised pay TV decoders in four weeks.

The authority warned that selling, importing, exporting, manufacturing or offering for sale or hire an unauthorised decoder warrants a $1-million fine and five years jail. Both commercial and domestic users of such decoders are also subject to civil court action.
