7 arrested for selling counterfeit goods

*
Customs & Excise Department

Customs have raided a shop and seven stalls selling counterfeit goods on Tai Yuen and Cross Streets in Wan Chai, arresting seven and seizing 1,500 items worth $18,000.

The goods included clothes, toys, stationery, watches, accessories and handbags, with trademarks of popular US and Japanese cartoon characters. Three men and four women, aged 17 to 64, were arrested.

As confirmed by trademark owners, the majority of shops and stalls sold genuine products, and the selling of counterfeits is not rampant in the area.

To report suspected counterfeiting activities call 2545 6182.
