Man arrested for Tsim Sha Tsui bomb hoax
*
Hong Kong Police

Police have arrested a 31-year old man for a bomb hoax on June 3 outside a shop in Tsim Sha Tsui.

At about 7.15pm that night, police received a report of two suspicious boxes with threats on the pavement outside the shop at 118 Nathan Road.

Police cordoned off the area for about two hours and blocked Nathan Road traffic between Jordan Road and Salisbury Road. Explosive Ordinance Disposal Bureau officers were sent to detonate the boxes. They confirmed it was a hoax, finding only two bricks inside.

Officers from Tsim Sha Tsui Division arrested the 31-year-old man in a Tsuen Wan flat about 7am today. Documents related to the incident were found in the flatt.

A search in a Tsim Sha Tsui commercial unit led to the seizure of materials for making boxes.

Police warned a bomb hoax is a serious crime and offenders will be liable to a fine of $150,000 and five years' imprisonment, stressing all such cases will be thoroughly pursued with a view to bringing offenders to justice.
