Tsunami death toll grows to 21

*

Thai authorities have confirmed the death of another Hong Kong resident missing since December's tsunami, bringing Hong Kong's death toll to 21.

The Security Bureau said 19 Hong Kong residents remain unlocated, all reported to have been in Thailand when the tsunami struck. The Government will pursue these cases and provide practical assistance to residents and their families where necessary.

Police have contacted relatives of missing Hong Kong residents to collect DNA samples for analysis on a voluntary basis. Analysed DNA information and fingerprint records have been sent to Thailand for identification.

Hong Kong residents can call the Immigration Department hotline 2829 3010 for assistance.
